    Exellent! Thanks.

While you're at it, please animate a better inherent power for Defenders.
  3. Oy, we've had City of Angels when we got wings, then City of Matrix with the trenchcoat. Look out, here comes...

    City of Street Walkers!

    What?
  4. Overall Response

Beautiful! Wonderful! I love it! It looks so cool, especially if you zoom in for a close up of your toon and swing the camera to the side.

    Hunh Department

I never realized moving backwards was slower than moving forwards. It's noticeable that walking backwards is slower than walking forwards by the beat of the pace of footsteps. Timed courses showed that's the case. But it's also true for normal trotting, Sprint, SuperSpeed, and Fly, even though Real Numbers doesn't show the change in speed.

    Walking on Water

When you walk into water, you keep the walking animation. However, if you're already swimming while trotting, Sprinting, or SuperSpeeding, then switching to Walk puts you in a slow breast stroke. In fact, the breast stroke animation is exactly the same no matter how fast you're swimming; it even keeps the same speed, which looks too slow for superspeed swimming and too fast for walking swimming.

    Walking on Geysers

When walking into a Shadow Shard Geyser, the animation is a slow walk through the air. And if you stop moving forward, the animation is the idle position while being catapulted through the air.

    Buffs and Toggles and Walking

Any click buffs, or inspiration buffs, or the Proc120 buffs will continue to work while walking. All toggles, however, detoggle and don't come back on when you leave Walk; which can be a little bit of an annoyance, especially if you have a lot of toggles running. Could toggles be suppressed instead of detoggled while walking?

    Sounds of Footsteps

Walking on pavement or grass had a really good sound (male toon tested). It sounded like there were three footstep sounds per terrain, and they'd switch randomly so that it didn't sound so mechanical. Footsteps had a heartbeat rhythm rather than a steady beat, which also kept it from sounding mechanical. Good work!

I was going to suggest the same thing!

NPCs and PCs have different animation rigs... their moving parts move differently. Also was the problem of all the other animations that PCs can do while walking which NPCs don't, which was solved by shutting off all other powers.
  6. Gratz to the author.

And thanks to Dr. Aeon for keeping up with Devs' Choice arcs! In the long haul between now and GR, this is a great way to have semi-official new content!
  7. I had a hard time finding that and I wrote it! Had to search on 'apostrophe' to find it.

Problem is that "player character" and "PC" go to two different pages that both say the same thing, namely, that PC is the abbreviation for Player Character. To find the page in question, you need to have used the plural "player characters".

    "Name" and "Names" goes nowhere.

"Player Name" shows the page in question as the sixth choice. "Player Names" shows the page in question as the thirtieth choice.

I would add in the redirects myself, but I'm unsure how to resolve the abbreviation and definition page issues.
  8. If you want neg-rep, find something in CoH that is being abused and say in the forums it's an "exploit." And boy, will the neg-rep nerd-rage flow your way. People who cheat don't like being called out on it and will try to force the language to disguise their behavior.

Of course, doing that just to prod that nerd-rage is technically trolling, and I'd have to call you out for doing that.

And the apostrophe, making four special characters of which only one can be used once.

Spaces can be used multiple times, but not at the beginning, end, or more than one in a row.

  10. The purpose of rep is so that in an environment where there is a false sense of anonymity -- which brings out all sorts of bad behavior -- there may be an even greater illusion of anonymity so that they can be even worse behavior. Think of it as turbojerking.

It's best to shut it off from displaying and never looking at the comments others left... it just enables the trolls.

  12. Save the costume and then open up the .costume file in notepad to see what the parts are called.

The 800 series of the i7's are 2-channel, not 3-channel like the 900 series are.

The 800 series is a step down from the 900 series even though it's newer. It was specifically made for budget builds. It's not as easily manually overclocked as the 900s and has 2 instead of 3 channels. However, it has dynamic auto-overclocking of its eight threads (turbo mode) which makes power consumption much more 'green.'

At 3D Guru, benchmarks showed that the 900s generally outperform the 800s, however, in a few situations, the best 800 (the 870) outperformed the slowest 900 (the 920).
  14. FYI: many of the job postings for CoH explicitly preferred fans of the game.

How about this: Merge the Arena with the MA?

Then you can choose from hundreds of maps for the arena event and set up goals and ambushes and NPC threats that both teams have to deal with as they battle each other?

And I'm supposed to reply to it? I don't really have a reply. Some comments, perhaps: It's a stupid comment and it made me laugh.

P.S. Did they actually write ***** or does that mean something was censored?
It was censored. That's how the new boards do censoring.

Most of my neg rep were from the forum care bears who couldn't bide me calling people out for socially inappropriate behavior (i.e., being jerks). So, they anonymously chastised me for chastising others, the hypocrites.

The second largest group of neg-reppers were from people who simply disagreed. So, don't tell the lady her child sings off-key else you'll get a nasty anonymous note.

I welcome debate and honest criticism, but the anonymous neg-repping was the refuge of the emotionally immature and psychologically disturbed.

They can neg-rep me all they want now. It'll have the same effect as yelling in their own homes since I don't read the rep comments anymore.

It's a shame that it couldn't have been put to good use, like having signed, positive only rep. That way, we can pass all the 'lol' and 'thank-you' remarks to each other without cluttering up the thread or weighing down the PMs.

But, the rep system is being used for evil, not good. And the sign that says "Don't abuse it" will get interpreted, "Abuse it in a way that isn't obvious."

    Ah, gotchya. I stand corrected.

However, the 'build up' that happens from IO Procs is, I believe called [Boost Up]. If you watch the icons under the health window for the icon to appear when it goes off, a right click of that icon shows it as [Boost Up].

    Pathetic.

    Serious response time:

Here's the reason many of the old arcs are so frustrating with all those kill-alls and multiple street sweeps: To get you to 50. And even then, you might be level 43 and exhausted all your 41-45 contacts or level 48 and exhausted all your 46-50 contacts.

This was before radio missions, short high-level TFs, debt reductions, XP-curves, resting XP bonuses, zone invasions, alternate high-level zones such as RWZ and Cimerora, and now, XP-while-exemplared.

All we had were the IP arcs and the dreaded Shard TFs. So, lots of kill-alls.

At HeroCon, Hero 1 promised a lot less kill-alls.

And, as mentioned above, many of the mission 'tricks' such as chained-tasks wasn't available to mission writers at the time.

So, why don't they 'fix' them? Because every minute a content designer uses to fix an old mission means they are not spending that minute writing new content.

But, who knows, they've hired a bunch of new content writers and maybe once they get all their Going Rogue work done and are waiting for QA and beta feedback, they just might use that time to revamp old missions. But, I'd imagine certain TFs are higher on the list for fixing than boring arcs.
  19. @fearghas was one of the heroes of the MA getting out really good arcs right away in Closed Beta. Gratz!
  20. I think [Boost Up] will create a hyperlink in chat which will show you Build Up's powers.
  21. Try deleting the mouse drivers and let Windows reinstall default.

Is this a bug or how the power works or what?

The power renews itself and when it does there are short periods of overlap.

The Talon becomes competitive because it uses the new 800 series of i7's.

The 800 series is a slightly nerfed *and* boosted version of the 900s.

Nerfed in that they're 2 channel instead of 3 and their overclocking is locked to base multiples.

Boosted in that it has more dynamic 'Turbo' mode where any of the 8 hyperthreads are automatically overclocked on the fly by the CPU.

The tests run by 3D Guru show that the best of the 800 series can sometimes out-perform the worst of the 900 series in specific cases, but in general, the 900 series is overall faster.

The real benefit of the 800 series is that it's more of a bargain for when budgets put the 900 series out of reach.

If I spec out an 800 series machine on CyberPower.com, it still beats out Falcon Northwest by a few hundred dollars.

(Can you tell I've been doing a lot of research for this purchase? )
