    Kismet Accuracy

It keeps restarting every 10 seconds. So, as long as your toggle is on, Kismet will be working for you. When you turn off Hide, then Kismet will stop working 120 seconds later.

Ajax is not in the Rikti homeworld. He was one of 5 members of the Omega team that were captured before they could get through the portal. He was held in a stasis beamy-thingamajig. Thus, when the portal blew up, he witnessed it since he was invulnerable. Thus Ajax was able to give us the account of what happened when the Omega team attempted to enter the portal.
  3. So, Ajax is around and his letter is now read. Wonder what the authorities or Ajax is going to do next?

    Also, SPOILER ALERT.........................

From the Lady Grey TF, we know that Galacia and Infernia made it back alive and OK (unless you speedsters purposely killed them off). And that Hero 1 is alive and Riktified (though he's trying to fight it and we're getting him help... but no more news on that front).

The only ones we're sure are dead are the four captured along with Ajax and any others confirmed killed on our side.
  4. From the official history:

The Freedom Phalanx was down to just Statesman and a handful of the toughest, most powerful heroes in the city. The Dawn Patrol, Midnight Squad, Regulators, and Hero Corps were in similar straits. With its decentralized command structure and international recruiting base, only the Vanguard (which included Statesman as well), remained a viable, organized fighting force. Even when the Rikti destroyed the United Nations buildings in New York and Geneva, the Vanguard kept up the fight, quickly training and organizing super powered defense teams to hold the aliens in check.

Using the files and records from Portal Corp, an exceedingly intelligent hero named Dr. Science (also the star of a famous kids science program) figured out a way to trace the energy signatures of the Rikti portals. It was clear that the aliens were continually receiving reinforcements from their home dimension, probably through additional portals that opened up in their secret underground staging areas. Dr. Science managed to isolate the largest and most active of these portals, which happened to be located deep beneath Paragon City. This was probably the least accessible location on Earth right now, lying as it did deep within Rikti territory and surrounded by thousands of the toughest alien troops.

Dr. Science devised a plan, but it was one that risked a great deal for an uncertain outcome. He had deduced that the portals required tremendous energy to operate and that the source of this energy must lie somewhere on the Rikti home world. The portals on this side were merely conduits for the main energy source. From there, reinforcements were then transmitted through local intra-dimensional portals. If a team of heroes could travel through the main conduit and destroy the energy source, the Rikti on Earth would be totally cut off from future reinforcements. This might just be enough to turn the tide of the war.

Matters were growing more desperate with each passing month, so the Vanguard, led by Hero 1 in November 2002, decided to try Dr. Science's daring plan. They assembled the best and brightest heroes in the world, leaving only skeleton crews to man the defenses. They then split into two teams, one led by Statesman, named Alpha Team, and one led by Hero 1, named Omega Team. Alpha Team was much larger, consisting of over 1000 heroes from across the globe. They launched a full frontal assault on the Rikti main troop concentrations, drawing as many alien troops into the fray as possible. This was a dangerous ploy, and it proved costly. In the ensuing titanic battle, 800 of 1000 heroes died, along with some 50,000 Rikti soldiers.

Omega team consisted of 50 of the world's best and brightest. The humans had found that the Rikti were particularly ineffective when it came to dealing with magic based powers, so there were quite a few magicians and artifact wielding heroes on Omega Team. Using an ancient Charm of Invisibility, the team managed to slip into the Rikti main portal base unseen. They were only discovered at the last moment, in the portal chamber itself. Omega Team watched as thousands of Rikti reinforcements passed through the dimensional gateway, on the way to help in the battle against Alpha Team. They were discovered, but now it was too late. They fought their way through to the gateway - five of them fell captive to the Rikti in the process. It was one of these captives who later escaped and provided the only witness to what happened next.

Omega Team disappeared into the portal and the Rikti were thrown into a panicked frenzy. They swarmed in after the brave heroes. All was silent for about 15 minutes. Then a tremendous explosion rippled out from the open portal, tearing through the Rikti base and instantly annihilating everything within a square mile. Only one hero, the utterly invulnerable Ajax, managed to survive the blast. He had been taken captive by a Rikti stasis ray and rendered unable to follow his teammates into the portal. Now he was the sole surviving witness to their apparent victory.

News of the disaster traveled almost instantly through the Rikti ranks, and they immediately began to disengage from their massive battle with Alpha Team. The heroes, having lost 80% of their number, were only too happy to let the Rikti slink off in defeat. It took them a little longer to get word of what had happened, but it sounded like good news. All over the world the Rikti were retreating, although certainly not in a panic. Obviously everything had just changed for them. They were no longer fighting with secure supply lines and constant reinforcements from home. In an instant they seemed to make the transition from field army to guerilla fighters. They withdrew into their secret lairs over the next few days, fighting a scorched-earth rear guard action that claimed thousands of more lives.
  5. Last two Winter Events started the Monday before Christmas Week and ended the Sunday after New Years. That would make this year's event likely to be:

    Monday, Dec 14 - Sunday, Jan 3.

Although, they once extended the Winter Event because college students are usually on break until the second Sunday of January, so, they may go til Jan 10.

So, is Pepsi in trouble because Coke sells more colas?

It's fallacious to pick a MMO with a higher playerbase and then say, "Look, it has a higher playerbase, therefore, CoH might be in trouble!!"

Out of dozens and dozens of MMOs (and with dozens and dozens more that have failed), CoH is at least the seventh most subscribed to MMO in the West.

There's a successful metric for you.

If it's by the Black Helicopter in Mercy, then there is a nearby gate to Cap.

  9. Posi, can you have the programmers give us the names of the features they're using? (I doubt it's called 'ultra mode' ) With that info, we can probably track down which cards have that ability. Thanks.
  10. At 10:30 PM ET, there were only 10 unhidden people online, so, I logged out. Hope the earlier hours saw some testing being done.

Then *you* are the problem here.

That level 21 is going up against +5 Level EBs. You are inviting them to die over and over again. They'll hit max debt. They can't earn any Vanguard Merits.

If this raid was instance and I was the raid leader, then I would kick *you* out for bringing a level 21 leech with you to the raid.

It is never wrong to set appropriate boundaries with others, even if it makes them sad. That's their problem for having unrealistic expectations, not yours.
  12. Have you tried Wodewick, Wogew, or Incontentia Buttocks?

And so your point is that the Devs responded to these requests by putting up AE buildings everywhere but not by granting what was actually asked for? That's a silly assertion.

It took years for Striga and Kings Row to get stores, though they were begged for constantly.

The tram was only extended once... to Skyway and Founders.

When the Hollows was revamped to make it a non-hazard zone, I lobbied for that revamp to go all the way: include a Field Corps Analyst and a base portal... but that didn't happen.

And what's with PvP zone connections in your list? Nothing's ever been changed about that.

During the Closed Beta for the MA, players asked for AE buildings to be removed, and it was... for Croatoa. The exact opposite of your assertion.

We also asked for the AE in the RWZ to be moved to Pocket D, just as people have been doing here and got no response to that except to be given that the original reason for an AE in the RWZ with removed level limitations was for co-op AE at all levels. And again, we said, "Then Pocket D!" to no avail.

It is so logical for the AE in RWZ to be moved to Pocket D that its continued presence in the RWZ is indeed painful to bear. But making up ridiculous player-Dev dynamics to account for it doesn't help the situation.
  14. As someone who was foundational to that tradition (that's *my* Howling Twilight in question), I give permission to kill it with fire.
  15. Who are the idiots inviting lowbies to a Raid and not kicking them when they refuse to go to the hospital?

    Yell at those morons.
  16. Moral of the story: Use this time to level up several 50s and make sure you keep one on each side (or simultaneously switch two).

    Please change that.

It was a mashing together of Howling Twilight + Oil Slick for group rezzes with Fulcrum Shift + Oil Slick for group buffs.

The fact is that there is no reason to do a pre-emptive Howling Twilight before going into the goo. And certainly no reason to do a group heal with Twilight Grasp before going in.

The Howling Twilight was for group wipes.

So, please don't confuse the newbs with that. So, I recommend....

/macro 6 request "6. Dismiss pets and Damage Auras so as not to destroy the Oil Slick"
/macro 5 request "5. Start long term buffs. Stun/Fear protection."
/macro 4 request "4. Oil Slick for Fulcrum Shift Megapowerup Rah Rah Rah!"
/macro 3 request "3. Regen and other Auras!"
    /macro 2 request "2. TANKERS GO!"
    /macro 1 REQUEST "1. SCRAPPERS GO!"
    /macro 0 REQUEST "ASSAULT GO!"

    Major bugs need working on.
  22. Hey, Castle and BAB,

Do you know that Virtue is now doing evacuate-less raids now (most of the time)?

We don't run/tp out between blooms anymore. As a bloom is about to happen, the Regen Auras are reapplied and the tanks and scrapper run to grab the Yellow mitos and melee them to death again.

My Regen Scrapper doesn't even need an EoE.

And sometimes, if we do have enough EoEs and experienced people, we'll skip wiping out the last bloom and finish off Hami with the last bloom out (without Shivan or nukes).

    Arena wherever?

Remember how they killed all the horses and melted down all the trains now that we have cars and trucks?
  24. BUG: On the Expert Ski Slope (half-pipe), the teleporter is still sending you to the top of the track facing sideways.

BUG: I forgot to check and the event is over, but, the Naughty and Nice Halos were supposed to be color tintable, but were not. Is that being worked on?

This just in: Ninja Run *very* helpful for ski badges.

With Sprint+NR, I got the Bronze badge in my first downhill run and Silver in my second. About 10 tries later I got the Gold (with two times being less than a second from Gold).

On the half-pipe ice course (toboggan/bobsleigh/skelton/luge), I only had time for one run, but was 8 seconds away from gold. I'm sure I can shave off that time for the gold. Most importantly, I didn't fall off that course!
