Actually, the choice is a no-brainer.
The situation the Omega team faced was that they were losing a war to a foe that was going to kill them all anyway.
It's was a choice of sure death by doing nothing, or probable death by possibly saving the world.
No-brainer. -
I've respecked IO'd-out builds before.
For the toons that had lower level IOs (in the 30s and 40s), there's only a handful of IOs worth more than a million... So, there's no problem there if I lose a few.
For the ones that were mostly level 50s, I looked up their worth at the market, and by the time I got the 11th most expensive IO, it was only worth a few million. So, again, for a power user like me... it was chump change to replace the ones that got deleted, while the Numinas and Gamblers were all nicely recovered. So, there's no problem there.
The only people I can see where the limit of 10 on IO recovery would be very expensive are the Purpled-out toons. And just how often is a Purple-out toon so completely respecked that more than two sets of Purples can't be reused in the new build? And if they really do need to do such a drastic rebuild (that can't be accomplished by using their second build), just how many times do they need to do it that a freespec and one of the earned respecs (of which there are at least 3 available to a level 50 toon) can't be used to pull out 20 Purples?
I think those complaining of losses are way overstating the problem. -
If you're jonesing for Temp Powers, you can always make sure you're 'working' the Day Job powers and you can do the side job of a Mayhem/Safeguard mission to collect a double handful of Temp Powers.

1. Hook friends into playing since they can run the second account with full-access toons (no Trial Account limitations) while I'm on the first.
2. Spare account for CoH LAN parties where there's an extra person who doesn't have a CoH account.
3. Mostly though: Managing personal SG base, transferal of loot, marketeering, and other account housekeeping where two toons are much, much better than one.
4. Very rarely two-boxing. The second account may be used to deliver spare inspirations to a TF, e.g., EoEs to a LGTF.
5. Testing! Ghost Falcon has hooked up Beta Testers to get their second account in and it helps immensely being able to use two toons to test things, e.g., the effects of the new SuperSideKicking. -

Quote:'Smooth' them?Indeed.
If you smooth a cat when it's a kitten, while it's eating (and do it every time) they'll not mind you being there.
Both my cats never growl (or make those sort of noises) when you smooth them while eating. -
After watching several such videos, it seems to me the kitty 'nom nom' is a territorial growl warning you to back your darn hand/camera away before it gets bit.
Cute. -

Finally got to complete the new cape mission...Its a great touch having it in the Flashback Crystal for those of us who had run the old one.For now. It's been removed from the Crystal on Test. Will likely go live tomorrow. {Edit: It definitely will be going Live tommorow.}Quote:You can run the new one (once) even if you already have a cape. She offers it regardless of whether you had already done the old cape mission.
On a toon that had already done both the legacy cape and aura missions on test, the City Rep offered only the new cape mission, and when that was done, offered same old aura mission again.Quote:But will it let you run the aura mission if you don't accept the new cape mission?
I'm curious about this because I had a character hit 30 who hadn't run the cape mission at all and was forced to run the new cape mission before the aura mission was offered.
Now I have one who was mid cape arc when the mission changed and upon completion of the arc was offered the new one and I don't want to be forced to run it again when I hit 30 and want to snag the aura mission. Anyone been in this boat?
So, I'm guessing you're gonna have to get the New Cape mission out of the way before you can get to the Aura mission. It's really not laborious, especially if you floor your difficulty level. -

Quote:It functions like a freespec, thus you can't 'invent' it at the Candy Creeper if you already have a freespec, since freespecs don't stack.By the way, is this holiday respec that will be available from the Candy Keeper this year stackable with other freespecs (like the freebie given out each issue stacks with the Patron Freespec)? How does it work?
So, if you do have a freespec, you can respec, pulling out 10 IOs, then buy the Winter Event Freespec and pull out another 10.
Another limitation of the Winter Event Freespec is that it can only be used once per year.
See my guide on respecs in this link. -
Quote:I disabled the custom skin for the screen shot lest anyone say that the skin was the problem.I'm not sure if Zombie included that or not, but I disabled a lot of stuff like the fonts and such and let the forum pick it by itself.
If people leave their links alone, I can skin the links to look the way I want them to. -
Marketing hasn't been totally absent:
1. They instituted an always-available free trial and made it easily accessible through the main site. (Regardless of what anyone may think of the restrictions on that free trial due to combating RMTers, at least it is a partial preview of the game. We've seen lots of folk posting to the boards about how to turn their trial to full.)
2. CoH banners at various comic and gaming websites.
3. NCSoft included CoH in their product placement deals with Chuck and Big Bang Theory.
4. Exclusive previews on various gaming websites of new features, interviews, pics, and vids. As much as forum regulars grouse about not getting that stuff here first, it's done specifically as a marketing tool to get gamers interested in other games interested in CoH.
5. Loyalty programs (perqs from HeroCon, Vet Rewards, loyalty badges) and free reactivation weekends. They're designed for retention of customers and to bring back old customers. -

Here is the video of exactly how it went off.
I used my CC4 Macro below, but you can substitute a bind to NUMPAD7 if you wish.

Please, everyone, stop coloring your links. They are automatically highlighted for us in a way that's actually able to be seen.

I can't see Base Raids and CoP with their IoP ever returning until the Summer of 2011. And that's only if GR is a smashing hit.
So... Don't hold your breath.
The Devs' time for other things is scheduled until the Winter of 2010. PvP is a dead end for development since it's not what the majority of players want enough to demand attention or else they'll leave.
Bases need to be fixed for Raiding. Zone PvP needs to be fixed as part of the revamp of PvP that never fully got done. Then the CoP TF needs to be fixed.
Summer of 2011. At least. Maybe. -
Yeah, you need to put the way Resistance works out of your mind. With Resistance, each Typed Resistance (50% Smashing / 35% Lethal) gets applied to all corresponding types of incoming Damage (100 pts Smashing / 100 pts Lethal becomes 50 pts Smashing / 35 pts Lethal).
With defense, the highest Defense number is used for the ToHit Roll. (So, if you have 30% Melee Def / 20% Smashing Def / 10% Lethal Def, then versus any Melee attack that does Smashing/Lethal, you're Defense in the ToHit equation is 30%... the highest of the three).
So, for Defense toons, you'll either want to focus on shoring up you Positional Defenses (melee/ranged/AoE) or your Typed Defenses (s/l/e/n/c/f). Since toxic and psi attacks often don't have corresponding Defense or even a Positional attribute attached to them (that's right, a mental attack that's neither melee, ranged, nor AoE)... then you'll still want to find toxic/psi Resistance. -

Quote:i c wat u didThe North American Training Room is offline for the implementation of some back end fixes, and should be back up and running at around 3PM Pacific Time ( 6PM Eastern Time). There won't be any patchnote for this update.
Thank you for your patience with this matter!

He's nearly completely Rikitified. When you fight him, his dialogue shows he's trying to fight it, but can't. The in-game text makes it seem like he's too far gone for any simple solution and that they'll be working on a cure that will require a lot of experimental work, so, he's up in the air now on whether he'll ever be cured.

The history of the 5th Column in and out and in the game:
- I3 - Council takes over 5th Column. In a sloppy cut-and-paste frenzy, nearly all mentions of the 5th gets replaced in-game by Council. The 5th remain in the game's historical backstory, though, outside of the game.
- 2nd Anniversary (right before I7) - 5th Column Gladiator unlockable
- I11 - 5th Column in Ouroboros Pseudo-Strask Forces
- I12 - 5th Column in Imperious Strask Force
- I14 - 5th Column available for Architect missions
- I15 - 5th Column Task and Strike Forces
- I16 - 5th Column in the streets and outdoor zones

Quote:Like the tunnels under the US Capital connecting to the congressional office buildings. I love their mini personal trolleys in those tunnels where walking in the lane next to them is faster. No flashback as a lev 30.
Talk to the normal people. Some rikti here, rikti there, holo-dude.
I did think it was interesting that the lobby-gal said that the Hero 1 memorial was "here is the building down the hall," while it's five blocks away. -
Quote:Yah, they should suppress all travel powers in the Shard so that the geysers get used the way they were meant to be.this bears repeting over and over again, the shard is just wasted potential on top of wasted potential.
Oh, and then put timers on all the missions. -
Million influence says we don't hear from the OP again because the OP doesn't want to reveal just how underpowered the OP's graphics tech is.
This wasn't a question, it was a complaint. -
