Lest somewhat take what you say in jest as gospel, let me point out, for those who don't know, that when GMs (Game Masters) enter the game, they have to chose a Hero or Villain avatar just like everyone else. Only, they have the special GM/Dev/Mod flag that allows them to enter the zone of any faction/alignment. That's been in place since CoV and is not new.
Usually, a GM will take on the avatar of a Police Drone, this way it's apparent that this is a GM. Also, only GMs/Devs/Mods can have PCs in the game with an underscore, so any real GM will have a name that beings with "GM_". If someone say's they're a GM and they don't have that underscore, it's a player spoofing them and that player should be /petitioned immediately.
A funny/frustrating thing about GMs taking on a hero or villain PC is that if the GM is not that familiar with CoH (NCSoft has a GM 'pool' that provides GM services for all their games such as Guild Wars and Aion), they may not realize that you have to enable cross-alignment chat for a hero to speak to a villain (as what needs to be done in Co-Op zones or PvP zones). So, it's been known for a GM to show up in a villain's mission after being summoned by /petition, and not 'hear' what you're saying since they don't have villain chat enabled. And they think they're being ignored and leave. If that ever happens to you, get on your global or help channel and ask someone playing a hero to send that GM a /tell to enable their villain chat. -
Virtue did a raid last night in 30 minutes. Didn't evacuate after the first two blooms and killed the nucleus while the last bloom was up.

I'm getting sick of greedy gamers who want to throw role-play out the window because they want to keep their stuff.
Do you think Spider-Man can become Venom and terrorize the city and still call upon a favor from the police chief?
Yet that is exactly what all those who want to fully cross over and take all their stuff with them want to do.
Stop it.
You're going to convince each other that the Devs will allow you to keep your bases and all your stuff if you fully cross over, and when they don't, you'll wail and scream. Stop setting yourselves up for failure. Stop setting the Devs up for failure. And stop talking about this like it's a real possibility. It has a 0.001% chance of happening. -
Quote:That's the important part. Lieutenants have a higher chance-to-drop than minions, bosses higher still. If I'm not mistaken, the only thing that really affects drop rate is the rank of the enemies you're fighting. In other words, bosses are more likely to drop something than minions. But of course they also take longer to defeat.
The relative level of the foe is irrelevant as long as they con green or better. While grey conning foes can still give xp and prestige (down to -2 or -3 depending on their rank), greys don't give drops. Ever. Those who dispute that need to provide a screen capture as proof, which has yet to happen whenever this comes up.
Also the type of recipe drop depends on rank. Minions can drop Pool E and Bosses can drop Pool C+D; while all ranks can drop Pool A.
Underlings, pets, and spawned entities (portals and death shaman's zombies, e.g.) never give drops to prevent them from being farmed. -
Because Star Fleet forbids it.

Quote:Nope.18 hours from the completion of the first TF completion.
ie, If you do an ITF at noon, then one at 3pm, you get half merits, then one at midnight, you get 1/3 merits. Then you do another at 6am and get full merits.
It depends on how many attempts of a TF (that doesn't give a reward screen) you've done in the past 18 hours. Take that number, and then take the inverse of that number and then multiply that by the full reward.

For TF/Trials that have a Reward screen, Merits cap out at half of the full reward. -
Quote:It's been known to happen that abandoned missions don't get immediately wiped from the servers. Sometimes it takes 5 minutes and, rarely, 10 minutes to reset. Is anyone else having trouble resetting missions? I've done it dozens of times in the past but in the last week or so it doesn't seem to work.
1) Remembered I'd out-leveled a mission by 2 levels after we'd gone in and cleared the first mob (all blues and greens). Got the team out, upped my difficulty by 2, chose someone else's mission, selected YES to abandon, re-selected my mission, went in.... first group still gone, second group right where we left it, still -1 & -2.
2) Went into a mission and everything was +3 & +4. Tried anyway with a party wipe. Exited mission, put difficulty back down (had forgotten about it), selected someone else's mission, YES to abandon, re-select mission, go back in... everything was still red and purple.
I guess I need to try it solo sometime just to make sure but thought I'd ask if anyone else is seeing this. -

- HijackThis - it will show us what's running on your computer concurrently with CoH. Click on "Do a system Scan and save a logfile." It will automatically open up Notepad and put the info there. Make sure Wordwrap is off in Notepad (Format > Wordwrap unchecked) before you cut and paste here.

Quote:If a foe is defeated, the game asks itself, should there be drops and of what kind? It then 'rolls' on a 'table' to see if each of those possible drops happen. With a few exceptions, all drops are separate rolls from each other.I've looked around but haven't seen the answer to this.
When you defeat a villain (minion, Lt., whatever), you frequently get some kind of reward or "drop." It might be salvage, an inspiration, an enhancement or a recipe (although you don't seem to get recipes until you're close to level 10.)
What I'm wondering is: if I defeat a villain and whatever game mechanism that determines drops decides to reward me, what happens if that category is full? For example, I'm in the middle of a mission and the system decides to reward me with an enhancement BUT my enhancement tray is already full. Does the reward "roll over" to salvage or an inspiration or am I SOL?
So, if you defeat some minion and it cons green or better to you there will be a roll for an inspiration, a roll for salvage, a roll for a recipe, etc.... If one of those rewards isn't granted because the inventory slots for that kind of reward is full, then that does *not* affect the other rolls.
Exceptions to the rule are 'bonus drops' such as what happens when defeating giant-sized Devouring Earth (they're actually AVs with the hp of Giant Monsters). When you get an inspiration drop from a DE, you have a chance to get an additional Essence of Earth inspiration (used in Hamidon Raids). If you only have one slot open in inspirations, you'll never get the EoE, because that's in addition to the regular inspiration. But the pairing of two rewards like this is rare in the game.
It is possible to get 5 drops at once, and maybe more. -
Quote:Yes, but not all the time. Obviously there's an FX Script pointing error happening. It would help the Devs if we could narrow down which FX is the culprit. So, I've been noticing lately that sometimes when you zone either via Ouroboros, maybe to another zone and/or sign back in after being logged off, that your toon will materialize and be "hacking" and "coughing" up their lungs like they just walked out of a smokey bar,..lol. Not sure why this is the case. The funniest is when you get to Ouroboros and see everyone hacking around you, then you know somethings up..hehe. Anyone else notice this weird phenomenon?
So, next time this happens to you (i.e., all of you), note which toggles and buffs are running and write them all down and post them here! -
If you're using a LCD monitor (the type you find on laptops), then it has what is called a 'native resolution', that is, it already has a preset number of pixels set vertically and horizontally. Making an LCD monitor display a higher or lower resolution will always make the picture look worse. Thus, for LCDs, always use the native resolution (unless your graphics card can't handle it and must chose a lower one).
So, assuming you have an LCD monitor, right click on a blank area of the desktop and chose screen resolution. And under resolution chose the native resolution (which should be the recommended one, or, check your manual or online specifications of your monitor).
So, now that Windows is handling your resolution correctly, let's get CoH on board:
Download and run Tweak CoH.
This will allow you to change the game settings outside the game. Set the resolution to the native resolution of your monitor or to desktop or windowed mode which automatically uses the default resolution of your desktop.
Now, does this fix it? -

The best way to stabilize FireFox (I'm assuming, since this has been a recurring problem for FF users) for these new boards is:
1. Delete all CoH cookies: with both city* and coh* names.
2. Disable CoolIris.
3. Reboot to clear all caches
4. Enter the boards with the http://boards.cityofheroes.com address. -
So, I've been parking a Kin (Speed Skater on Virtue) on my second account atop the Advanced Slope and put IR on auto-cast. Slotted for recharge, it goes off about every 40 seconds.
I go AFK. When I check in now and then, I'll see /tells thanking me cause they made gold. I'll often have a mystery gift sitting in my tray. I've been doing this since the Winter Event started. Then I get this /tell...
[Tell] Name Redacted: [speed boost]. click on the words in { }s. for gods sake we dont want [inertial reduction].
Rude idiot.
I schooled him (without using language that would get me in trouble) in a /tell and set him on /ignore. Then I one-starred him with a playernote.
Too bad I can't smack an ice cream cone out of his hand. -

It used to be that Wincott and Flux of the Hollows were most definitely level 5-9 contacts. If you hit them at level 10 or higher, they wouldn't give you their arcs and pass you on to the next contact in the Hollows' progression (Wincott > Flux > Julius > Talshak).
However, on one toon that was level 12, I went to Wincott so that I'd get referred to Flux then Julius. However, rather than being passed on, Wincott gave me his arc. And the foes in the missions were level 12 (i.e., they scaled properly). I hit Flux at 13 and he gave me his arc.
So.... It seems that Wincott and Flux are now level 5-14 contacts. Though, before I update the Wiki, I'd like some confirmation to these questions:
Will they give you their arcs if you first contact them at level 14? At level 15?
It used to be that if you started Julius at level 10 or 11, he would stop giving you mission half way through the arc until you hit 12. Does he still do that? -

Quote:Trick or Treating and getting bosses+lts. on a duo at level 7 absolutely sucked.I explained why you get that with Trick or Treating. I've offered suggestions to the Devs for altering that. So, I'm not disagreeing with you in this specific case.Quote:A boss, 2 lts and 2 minions should never spawn for a heroic duo. Especially at 7th level.
This is not a case of 'your are doing it wrong.' This is a case where something is broken.
But in this thread you're constantly mixing up different situations and saying it's all broken, but it's not. ToT is an outlier case for a specific reason, but it's not the situation everywhere. Stop muddying things. -

If you have Slide, pairing that with Ninja Run takes way the anime run style.
Of course, now you have to justify the Slide animation for your PC's concept.
