For whatever its worth, I think its unlikely (possible, but very unlikely) you'll see a closed beta start before mid-February at the earliest. There's no point in conducting witch-hunts among the playerbase before then.
Arcanaville, you need to refine your algorithm for detecting troll posts.
  2. That's not good. I wouldn't be surprised if there were more nasties on your machine. We can check if you post the log of HijackThis - it will show us what's running on your computer concurrently with CoH. Click on "Do a system Scan and save a logfile." It will automatically open up Notepad and put the info there. Make sure Wordwrap is off in Notepad (Format > Wordwrap unchecked) before you cut and paste here.

What was the source of that test? I assume a web site... do you have a link?

56.2 mph is a little more than 2mph slower than the 58.63 mph cap.

It's 2 slots in Fly without Swift that puts you .4mph under the cap.

Oops, I stand corrected... looked at the wrong column.
  5. It's happened to me once, and has been mentioned a few times on the board. Usually you have to wait at least five minutes if it's going to clear up on its own. A server reset also fixes it, but they're now only once a week on Thursdays.

The only other thing to do if it doesn't resolve itself is to get into the game on another character and send a stuck /petition describing the problem. A GM can fix it.

Alright, who's been abusing the privilege of being able to PM BAB by sending him stupid stuff and questions?
  7. At level 50...

Swift is a totally complete waste of a power slot if you're taking it to cap fly speed since two Fly IOs will get you there in the end. (50++ SOs will have you hitting the cap, too.)

If, on the other hand, Swift is going to be part of your build anyway, you can save that second slot for Fly since Fly + Swift with just one Fly IO in each will only be .4 mph from the fly cap.

Actually, shouldn't it be Arbiter Kim?

A bug. Could be a one-time thing on your computer.

If it does that on another toon after a computer reboot and reverification of files, then report it.
  11. GW has three self heals:

    Life Drain, which is an AoE targeted self-heal version of Dark Blast's Life Drain;

Dark Regeneration, another AoE targeted self heal; and,

Twilight Grasp, a ranged targeted self heal.

None are auto-hit, which means jumping to Ozone and filling up on purples if you're a melee-er is your best strategy.

Now, if GW is immobilized and a Tanker is taunting and holding agro from a distance, then GW will still heal with Twilight Grasp, but the other two self heals won't go off.

So, here's the question, in this scenario, if a scrapper steps in for melee, will GW use the AoE heals even though her agro is held by a Tanker at a distance? Because if she does, then she definitely will heal off of them.

Now, even if you're a melee-er and GW heals off of you, that's perfectly fine if you're doing more damage than she heals from you.... in theory.

    Persistent...YES!
In Beta, I used Clockwork whirlythings to test the 'death zone' inside the AE building. I'd agro the whirlies and head into the AE building. Then when I saw them outside the window, I TP-Foe'd them inside. They insta-died. Death zone works.

  15. I'm willing to bet it's all in the threat level AI. Vahz zombies have their threat levels against you quickly aged out if you move out of perception range (which is low to begin with). When their 'leaders' are around, the leaders keep refreshing their minion's threat charts and so, they stay on you when the leaders are around.

Clockwork age out their threat level very slowly. You need to get out of their awareness range and not just their perception range to shake them, and that's without having done damage to them, at which point, they will hunt you down FOREVER.

    fixt.
  17. Please post the results of these two programs to help us help you tweak your computer for better performance (i.e., less lag):

    • CoH Helper - it will show us basic computer settings and your CoH configuration.
    • HijackThis - it will show us what's running on your computer concurrently with CoH. Click on "Do a system Scan and save a logfile." It will automatically open up Notepad and put the info there. Make sure Wordwrap is off in Notepad (Format > Wordwrap unchecked) before you cut and paste here.

If he's been gone that long, then how come Run is in the database? That's pretty new-ish. Has someone else been maintaining the powers db?

Well, that's you and me. Others are more... trusting.

In my organization, there are over 100 local managers, all with a post-graduate degree. And yet, the head office had to send out a memo telling the managers not to send money to Nigerian princes who contact them via email. Which, of course, means that at least one of those dodos already did so, thus, the memo.

    And thus, our warning.

Yeah, given I hadn't been to the forum there in how long (to where I forgot I even had the account,) and "Adminlady" joined 1/15, obviously not to be trusted. Not sure if anyone checks/maintains that, though.
    Argh, you scooped me.

A search on the 'Nets showed the site that 'AdminLady' wants you to go to is an attack site. I'm sure it's full of trojans <shudder>.

    My post.
  22. Just got an email that I have a personal message from nofuture.org.uk. Now, that's pretty odd since Red Tomax shut down those forums and now uses the forums of the Titan Network.

So, I go to find out what it is. Well, it's a PM from 'AdminLady' (Dave, aka Red Tomax, is male) that says:

Subject: Important message from the forum administration

    Dear, Zombie_Man!

A virus alert was noticed on your computer.
We highly recommend you to check your computer and perform online virus check at our site immediately: http://antivirus.xxxxxx*xxx.com.
I x'd out the name of the site.

Ummm... yeah, that's impossible since I have not allowed that site ActiveX control of my computer to actually do a scan. I recognize a flux capacitor when I see one.

So, looked up the site on the 'Net and it's listed as an attack site, which is what I was expecting it to be.

    So... don't go there.

    Edit: Scooped!
