I know this cause i've done this mission outside valenties alot to get the hearts pattern.
Which still means waiting to get out of Praetoria, which possibly, though only the Devs know for sure, might mean leveling up to level 5 or 10 or at least 20 first.

OTOH, Pocket D is interdimensional, so, maybe even at level 1 you can get to it for teaming up with someone who has the DJ Zero mission. We'll see what the VIP TPer does in Praetoria.
  2. Also....

EATs were introduced back when there weren't many paths to 50 except one chain of arcs. Thus, EATs were meant to be END GAME CONTENT, by giving those who've reached 50 something new to do.

However, with the state of the game now, it's no longer necessary to make EATs end game content. There are many paths to leveling up including MA arcs. The steady player base has come to accept alting new toons and exemplaring their 50's as 'end game content.' And, there is more specifically written end game content coming in Going Rogue.

There is no need now for EATs to bear the brunt of being 'end game content' any more.

I think it happened on mine when I forced high AA in the Catalyst settings and then turned water effects on high.

Here's someone else with the same issue but didn't angle the camera for the precise mirror reflection, but instead got a weird offset reflection:

    http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showp...42&postcount=7

The thing is that it's not worth it to replicate. It only provides an acceptable mirrored reflection from one angle and looks horrible from every other angle. And it's buggy that it comes and goes.
  4. Maybe because almost everyone on the boards is in closed beta because of the Loyalty Program.

Ack, you're misusing that word in the same way the OP did.

When CoH uses 'Epic' it means it in the literary sense, that is, story-based. Nothing more.

Pop usage makes 'epic' to mean 'extraordinary', but you can thank Hollywood for that meaning shift with all their extraordinary epic pictures such as Lawrence of Arabia or The Ten Commandments. Yes, those are really big budge films (for their times), but they tell a story, and that's why they're 'epics', not because they're really big or extraordinary.

The EATs and VEATs are epic ATs because their ATs come with a baked-in storyline that only they can play through.

    That's simply not true.

    Those pictures aren't doctored.

You can get mirrored effects on ATI cards at high FX settings, but the mirroring only looks right from one angle. If you move the camera around, you get really bad offset FX. Look at the first picture above and see that Pilgrim has a distortion FX behind him when he shouldn't. That's typical of ATI cards at a high setting.

Let me repeat for the whole thread:

That photos are real. I get the same FX on my computer.

  8. That's just the normal low settings for water effects on more recent ATI cards. The high settings looks a little bit better but has the weird offset mirroring effect.

    Not Ultra Mode.
  9. 1. Toggling the UI off and on used to be default bound to the period key, then the number pad period key, and now, to nothing.

    2. Open the keybinds.txt file in Notepad as mentioned above. Put in this line:

    . "++disable2D"

And save it. Restart CoH. Hitting the period will toggle the display now.

So... among forum regulars, it would be easier to ask who's *not* in Closed Beta than who is.
  11. *If* one were one in Closed Beta and *if* one found that they had locked costume slots past the default twelve that they can't open up; then the solution would be to keep buying slots and keep redeeming them and then the slots will open up.

The problem is that your extra slot count has been reset to zero. So, if you have five extra slots in use, you'll need to buy and redeem six to open up another slot.
  12. badge = temporary yellow print attached above your character's name, the kind devs give out at special events like a Pocket D Halloween party.

Here's what we know about GR: http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=196483

Electricity Control for Controllers and possibly Dominators is the only proliferation that slated.

BAB said emphatically that there will be no more Powers Customization until after GR.
  14. News Flash: Person acting like a jerk gets treated like one.

Even in RP, no one wants to be nice to the jerk. Just like reality.

In comic book fiction, jerk villains forced to cooperate with heroes are usually batted around and wind up back in jail. Is that the type of villain you really want to RP?

Smart comic book villains cooperate with the heroes and show how valuable they are in order to find the right time to backstab them and turn the situation to their advantage and make a clean getaway. They don't stupidly telegraph to the hero team that they have no real desire to cooperate by being a PITA the entire time.

You want to role-play a villain without ticking everyone off? Cooperate. Make in-character snide comments once in a while. And when the mission is done, say, "Check you pockets, boys, cause I got all your stuff!" and click leave team.

  16. A fast way to level up a new power set and get pre-orders for GR and bring back old time players....

But... that's odd... the job listing for a moderator was removed sometime last October, but there's been no new mods on the boards.

<shrug> Like Kremlinology, Dev-watching is not an exact science.
  19. TP Foe has a magnitude of 2.1. That is why you can TP an even-con lieutenant (yellow) whose mag protection is 2. However, if that Lt. is +1 to you (and becomes orange), then it's mag protection is now 2.1 or greater (I think 2.2) and then you can't TP Foe that orange-conning Lt.

In fact, you can six-slot TP Foe with ACC and you still can not TP Foe an orange (+1) lieutenant.

ACC helps to overcome defense... you still need a successful ToHit; but once you hit, then it's all about mag and mag protection. And if you can't beat mag protection, then the TP Foe will never work.

    ---

WRT Taunting with TP Foe: TP Foe has a 50% chance of creating a 10 ft. sphere of mag 20 Taunt at the target's location. So, if you successfully 'hit' the target, even if the target has a high mag protection and isn't TP'd (like an AV), there is a 50% you'll land a Taunt and thus 'pull' the AV to you.

And is Apex really found? Was this a really a bent-word puzzle? Or a transposed letter puzzle? Or a replaced letter puzzle? Or a phonetically spelled word puzzle?

Because it is *not* a ten-word, correctly spelled, linear word puzzle.

  22. Rules of Necro:

    1. Leverage your secondary to keep them alive.

    2. But don't be afraid of them dying and having to re-summon.

    3. Get your Knights in for melee -- they do wicked damage in melee.

This might mean having to adopt a Blapper mindset, putting yourself into melee range, but, hey, that's what Bodyguard is for. Just keep converting all your inspirations into Break Frees, set up a bind for that.
  23. I concur. Threads like this just get everyone's hopes up and then they go into nerdrage when they see it's just a mini-issue.

We've been told there will not be any further Power Customization until *after* Going Rogue. So, stop getting one's hopes up there.

All we know is that we're getting Ultra-Mode and some sort of 'content.' And that's all that should be expected.

It's *possible* that some of the things Defcon_Kid mentioned *might* be in I17, but that's only because that info was released at HeroCon and we were told that these features are not tied to Going Rogue, so, they *could* arrive before GR, if they're ready.

    Unknown about GW.

Ross got a promotion and his new job title seems to indicate that he's working for corporate now. Whether that means he's still at Paragon Studios or not is unknown.
  25. You can PM Arbiter Kim about it.

I'm sure he knows about the info on the Known Issues wiki page. It would be nice to hear what the status of those issues are.
