I seem to have missed something. I thought that GR had the side-switching stuff on it's own, as well as part of the Praetoria stuff... meaning that existing heroes and villains would have missions that would allow them to switch sides without ever having to go through the Praetoria arcs.

If there was a statement somewhere that existing characters have to go to Praetorian earth to switch sides, I didn't see it. And it just doesn't even make sense.

Positon, a tf that can be completed in 3 hours by a team with at least 1 player who knows the ins and outs, halved..
Epics unlocked at lvl 20. Lvl 20 can be reached in a few hours on a farm map, so if people (new players) were that desperate to get one they could find themselves with 1 on the day of purchasing the game.
In the time I wasted on Jay's costume thread I think movable tails was umpteenth in the list of wants. Way behind the likes of..
Monstrous faces, that didn't all look like rabid hedgehogs (Yes, a bird's head could be a monstrous one).
A back pack - that did NOTHING!!! but was there to see, at the time dismissed because of animation problems - well there's several in game now, not to mention the purchasable one, plus wings, which all cope rather well.
Movable hair, or flowing hair. Not a favourite of mine but it was highly requested.

On top of this there has once again been a failure to allow villains access to the shadow shard or a lvl 50 contact with unlimited, non-timed missions. I understand we all got excited with the content for both heroes and villains to play together, but CoV has definitely suffered neglect over recent issues content-wise. 5 minutes in the MA could solve this problem, then we move it on to the live server...

I will continue this thread later, but for now I ask you to add to the list of missed opportunities.
    Lol.

This took longer than I expected.

I have been with this game since day 1. I am more than pleased with I17. Call me a fanboy or dev apologist if you like, but I find I enjoy life a lot more by being positive than by finding fault with everything the devs do just for the sake of being bitchy.

    Generic Rant

Assertion that thread is too long to read in it's entirety.

Apology for lack of search-fu prowess.

Asking of question aswered three times on first page.
  7. If there is a CoH 2, the thing that I want most of all is the ability to transfer some of my favourite characters. I know that's not likely, since they won't have us play level 50s on day 1... but I would really miss playing some of my guys...
  8. I don't mind the warehouses too much. I concentrate on the differences between the enemies or the characters I play. The map is just background, unless it's one of the newer, cool maps that really jump out at me.

What *I* hate are the caves. Hate them with a passion. I sometimes drop missions if I am not in the mood to deal with a cave.

But the article caught my attention for another reason... I don't generally keep up too much with the Devs, beyond reading the dev digest for info on upcoming stuff. I hadn't heard about WW taking over. Does this mean Posi has left us?

    Let us solo TFs

    I have a question, Bill...

You mention filling a team and then having everyone quit as a way to solo it. Now, I already knew about that but was too lazy to ever try. However, you mention having "all but one" quit and then having him log out without quitting. So it that you as a player and then 1 other person (keeping 2 total on the team), or just yourself?

    Let us solo TFs

I am responding before reading everything, here, so I may repeat stuff...

I would love to be able to solo TFs. I always felt that it would be a fun "reward" for level 50 characters-- those epic heoes who are at the top of their game-- to be able to do so.

I have been playing the game since launch and have only even seen a handfull of the TFs because my work schedule doesn't allow me the time to commit to them. I can sometimes get my usual gang to sign up for them with me, but then I have 7 other people waiting a week between missions because I might be away, or playing at awkward times for them. A TF might take up to 2 months for us to do, tieing up everyone else's characters for my sake. I don't feel too good about doing that to them.

I loved that Jade Spider story because it let my lvl 50 tanker take part in what felt like an epic mission appropriate to her stature. More stuff like that would make me feel better about not having access to TFs.

I would happily do TS with *NO* reward whatsoever if it meant that I could just see them and enjoy the content that everyone else seems able to. Hell, I'd even pay for tokens to do them.
  11. I used to work evenings and my wife started playing to kill time while I was away. She got into the game more than I would have expected, so I started a second account and got a second computer. The idea was that she would have one account and I would have the other, but she had made her first character on my account and reached the middle levels, so she didn't want to remake her and wound up making a few new characters there as well. In order to play with her, I had to make some characters on the 2nd account.

Now that I have 50's and characters I really like on both accounts, I can't drop one, even though my wife rarely plays anymore.
  12. Hey, good question.

My very first character Maiden Canada would probably go, which would be especially sad for me because she is just a teenager, with a whole life ahead of her. She has that Spiderman mentality though, so she wouldn't be able to live with herself if she didn't do everything she could to help out.

A few of my others may have gone along as well, but a number of them would possibly try to find an alternative.
  13. I know for some people it seems to go very fast. Myself, I don't have as much play time as I used to, so I have my low-level guys go up fairly fast, but my higher level characters seem to be getting about 1 level every week or two. It feels slow to me because of my limited time. Then again, I have always been a bit slow. I have been playing since launch and have only 3 level 50's.

    Maiden Canada

Nice! Just reinforces my wish for artistic ability of my own.

Thanks to you for the art and to everyone else who liked her design.

Maiden Canada was my first character at launch. I've written hundreds of pages of stories with her and my other chars. I still love her and love her costume. It's simple, but it works. I just wanted a classic superhero look for her. This is the shot I sent as a reference:

  15. Nah. The problem was his. I never mind someone asking politely if they can join. Sometime I want to play solo, but often if I am not with my usual gang I will team with random people if they ask.

The only ones I don't resond to are the ones who basically send:

    "Add me"
    "Add me"
    "Add me"
"Why won't you add me? I wanna team!"

If someone is commanding me to add him, I tend to ignore it. Everything else is good.

Ha! And also, your profile says you were born in Manila. My wife is from Pangasinan.

If you ever want to see Maiden Canada or her twin brother Northernguard, let me know. I'm also on Liberty and can meet you there.
  17. Great work here.

Man, I wish I could draw, or find someone who could draw my chars for me. I have 2 or 3 in particular that I'd love to have art for, but my stick-figures don't seem to do them justice.
  18. I'd be interested in seeing how some of you slot your Regen
  19. Thanks for the replies everyone. There's some good food for thought here. I'll try approaching the set from another angle and see if a change in playstyle helps.
  20. At the risk of opening a can of worms, I wanna ask about Regeneration.

I have been playing since launch, but there are some powers that I have just never or rarely played. One is Regen. I presently have one regen character, who is at level 36. I am still looking for ways to make him work.

Having been around basically from the start, I remember all the issues about regen over the years as it has been adjusted. I think my main issue, though, is how it compares to Willpower. When Willpower was introduced, I was very happy, as I had been hoping for a good power for my "normal" characters, who had no super powers. I heard at the time that Willpower would have elements of regeneration to it, but just assumed it would be to a lesser degree.

I have a DB/ Willpower character who I put into crazy situations, where his health might drop down to a barely visible sliver as he fights a dozen enemies. Within seconds, he seems to rebound and return to full health. In a similar situation, my regen guy would be popping inspirations while running away.

I am comfortable with my ability to slot my powers, so I am not doing anything dumb like staying with training enhancements until level 40 or anything like that. I just don't understand why Willpower seems to provide better regeneration than does regeneration.

I am not bashing any powerset, or trying to be negative. I am simply wondering what I am missing with Regen to make it shine as a good power. Any thoughts, advice or opinions would be welcomed.

It turns out Wolverine now isn't a mutant, but rather a Lupine, a human looking species that evolved in parallel to humans — but from wolves, not apes. And there are two tribes: one with blond hair, the other with dark hair, and they hate each other — which is why Sabertooth hates Wolverine so much. They're not the only two, either — other Lupine's include Wolfsbane, Feral, Wild Child and Thornn. So pretty much ever feral mutant isn't actually a mutant, but a wolf person. They're all being manipulated by an almost immortal elder Lupine called Romulus.

Wolverine's healing factor has also suffered from major power creep over the years, expanding from "he can heal faster than most", to "was left as a skeleton after a major explosion, and healed completely within seconds." So to de-power him slightly, a retcon established that every time he dies, Wolverine has to fight the spirit of death to return to the living. Since WWI, he has been in constant combat with a being known as Lazaer (the worst anagram since Alucard), and his soul cannot return to his body unless he defeats Lazaer in limbo, each time. After some jiggerypokery with the resurrected version Shingen, Lazaer and Wolverine ended their constant battle — so if Wolverine dies again, it's for real.

When I was about... 11? I wrote superhero stories for fun and made a character named Black Phoenix (yeah, original, I know...), who kept coming back from the dead if killed. When he died, he had to fight the spirit of death to come back to life.

At 11, I abandoned the character, thinking it was too stupid. At 11, I knew better than the staff over at Marvel does now with one of their highest-profile characters.
  23. When CoV came out, I made a character who was the arch-enemy of one of my main heroes. I found I couldn't play him. He featured in a few stories I wrote, where I finally killed him off (and then deleted the character).

Dammuzid was from Uruk, some 6000 years ago. As a mortal, he had carnal desires for young boys. As his powers developed, he found he could extend his lifespan by draining the life from others. He continued to favour little boys. As millenia passed, he found he needed to draw upon metahumans to sattisfy his hunger. A group was formed to seek out and kidnap children who had the potential to develop superhuman abilities and Dammuzid had the children trained for a time, developing their powers while working for him. Once their powers fully manifested, he devoured them. Any children who did not develop powers were sold off to humans with unnatural hungers of their own.

There is a lot more back-story to this guy, but I found that while he made a good villain for my heroes to strive against, he was too evil, too... sick... for me to play.

    No "More"

Smaller boobs for my teenaged heroes. The smallest size is still bigger than almost anyone I know in real life.

Power-specific missions (a contact who gives a mission based on your powerset(s)) or power-specific tasks in a mission. For example, someone hanging on the side of a building who needs to be rescued by a flyer. Someone trapped under tons of rubble, requiring super strength to free them. A stalled car needing a jolt of electricity. Lots of possibilities there.

    Ha ha ha, that's awesome.

But seriously... Do pedestrians and everyone else have access to the medical transporters? Why have doctors? I was under the impression that a hero lisense gives access to the transporters, but the average joe on the street is SOL if he gets hurt.

And also, as mentioned above, in-game missions mention that heroes can die because the thech is not 100% reliable.

/e shrug. Whatever. Not like I can argue with BAB.
