I like a number of elements in this show and think they have some interesting ideas, but I have to say that-- overall-- the writing comes across as really amateurish. It feels like something written by a highschool kid.

I finally made a DA character after years of resisting (initially because of the way it covered costumes). The character I have now has turned out to be a lot of fun until recently. Now in his 20's he is getting bounced around the map so much that he barely gets to attack and mainly defeats enemies using Death Shroud. I am getting a little tired of spending 75% of my mission lying down. Any advice on the best way to defend against KB/ KB?

Yeah, that's a big improvement. Still wouldn't recognise him though, without a caption for the pic.

Quote:Spidey's original is a classic. It's really one of my favourite costumes ever.Looks WAAAAY over designed.
Spidey's costume is already rather busy and complicated and now you're doing that?
It's a shame that they are trying to fix what isn't broken.
This is horrible. -
Quote:I have been doing a lot of tip missions, too. Since my post on the 12th (8 days ago) I have received 1 shard and that was from a CoT in the Portal Corp parking lot. At this rate I will need something like 40 weeks to get my uncommon.I alos find the level 50 tip missions work well solo. Due to the number of bosses.
In addition to a common and an uncommon (different branch) I have gained about 50 spare shards just running tips. (get 1-3 per 5 missions/day)
And now the next tiers are due to open up. I am sad. -
Looks fairly bad to me, but I guess I'll wait for a trailer to judge.

Quote:Well, that would just lead to the usual "do you really think they'd admit the truth and cause widespread panic?"George Lucas is a big fan of pseudoscience in addition to sci-fi, according to Seth Rogen.
Perhaps Lucas could visit NASA's site sometime to check out science without fiction for a change. -
Quote:I dunno... having Reed Richards look at some of his work, shake his head in amazement and then basically say "wow, this guy is gifted... he could have had an incredible scientific career" (paraphrased because it was so long ago I forget the real quote) kind of makes me think he's up there with the top minds in Marvel. I mean, if Mr Fantastic is impressed with your work, it's good...First off, Parker is intelligent... but he is no Stark-level genius innovator, so no, I don't subscribe to that as a plausible idea (which is probably the reason why Raimi also went the mutant spider-glands on wrists route).
I also tend to think of a real life example of brilliant teens from a few years ago, when a highschool girl took first prize at a science fair and one of the sponsors basically said "wow, she managed to do at home what our top scientists have been trying to do in the lab for years..." (I really need to uncover that article again to quote it properly, but it was very close to that). So, I can accept Peter creating web-shooters. -

Never liked the song anyway. I always found it irritating.

Looks a little busy, but overall, closer to the comic than I expected. Is this WW2 or present day?

I mostly solo due to my work schedule. It took me until last week to get enough shards to finally slot my Alpha. Now working on the 2nd tier, which I hope to be able to do by summer.

Quote:This. Big time. Plus, he's Canadian, which is an automatic +10 cool points.Wolverine *is* a cool character. That's why he's been overused and watered down over the years. In his original appearances in X-Men, he was a stone killer who didn't care one whit what anyone thought, which was a breath of fresh antihero air in the stuffy superhero universe. That's why he immediately became the most popular character in the Marvel Universe.
He's cool; the way they've used him since then is not.
I loved Wolverine when he came out. He is the reason I started reading X-Men, which in turn had me start picking up all the other comics I eventually started collecting. I really hate what the character has become over the years.
Anyhow, I have only watched the first part of episode one. Is this an adaptation of the original miniseries? Given that they show Asano and Yashida Shingen, I am assuming so.
While watching Iron Man, I kept thinking "this makes no sense... if they have to do a series set in Japan, it should be Wolverine, not Iron Man...", so this suits me fine. I kept thinking Iron Man would have been better if they'd hired an American actor who could speak some Japanese to play Tony, although I did like in one early episode where he paused and commented "I'm trying to think of how to say this in Japanese..." even though he'd shown himself to be perfectly fluent up until then. -

Another thing that I find somewhat intersting is that while this tech is not availale to the average joe on the street, it is available to all the Hellions, Skulls, Outcasts, Trolls, etc., etc, etc. in the city. It was (I think) Positron (the dev, not the character) who explained that we're not really killing villains when we "arrest them with bullets, swords and fireballs", because they are ported to the Zigg's medical facilities when they are overcome. So the idea that the system can't handle several dozen civilian transports per day is crazy, given that it handles seemingly thousands of arrests per day.

Just saw it with my son. I liked it.
The only thing that confused me was Alan at the end, because I thought there had been some weird time-travel or something... I will have to check it out again, because if it was that same actor as the beginning, I somehow missed it.
Edit:
Huh. It was. Not sure how I failed to recognise him. -

It only really surprises me to see them do this because they have been so adamant in the past about never changing anything.
Quote:*Peter Parker gets married, then unmarried. The beauty of the Marvel Universe is that it is in constant change. Things are always happening, very much like life itself," he told AP. "For us, being stagnant just means that we're not doing our job.
*He switches to a black costume (giving a nice speech to explain the change, his process of maturing and why it's time to retire the red'n'blues) then drops it to go back to the original.
*He becomes friends with Flash, then Flash explains "hey, we were never really friends" (despite several years showing them as friends-- I have no idea where things stand with this now).
*Harry is good, then bad, then good, then dead, then alive then bad (again, I have no idea regarding his current status).
*Norman is dead then alive, then dead, then alive.
*Aunt May is dead, then alive.
*Peter and Mary Jane have a daughter, who then is kidnapped. Now I think she is dead, or she simply had a Mike Douglas kiss-off (points if you get the reference)
*Ben Reilly shows up and is revealed to be the real Peter, but then he isn't. (My views on this were that Marvel had watched Spidey get darker and darker over the years and wanted to have him go back to his lighther, fun self from the past, so Ben was going to be the real Peter without any of the past years' traumas, but fans rejected that. So instead we got OMD.)
I use Spidey as an example because I know him better than the FF, but there are literally hundreds of examples of how Marvel doesn't want anything to change, so these announcements are some of the biggest heaps of bs...
Every time I find myself missing comics and debating whether or not to start collecting again, we get crap like this, which just serves to push me further away. -

if it is, your search-fu is weak... using the information you stated i found that in seconds...
I hang my head in shame.
I couldn't remember the name, though, so I was searching with DC, heroes, and rpg. As I said, the only results coming up were for the older games.
Well, thank you, even though that is faintly humiliating. -
Ok, I am not sure if this is a forbidden topic with the current forum rules, but since it is a PnP game I am asking about, I'm hoping it's not considered competition or anything.
Some time back (a few months?) there was mention here of a new DC universe RPG. I had read up a bit on it at the time and it sounded good. IIRC it was a big hardcover with a nice Alex Ross cover and one of the selling points that I liked was that it seemed as much a guide to the characters and the DCU in general as it was a game.
I can find no mention of it anymore, either here or elsewhere. Any searches for DC rpgs takes me to older, out-of-print games. I am actually wondering if I simply dreamed it up. I have been looking for it because I want a good superhero pnp rpg to play with my son.
