Yuck.
As a Praetorian version od CoT, fine. As a Primal Earth version? Yuck. -
This really made me laugh, because that's exactly what I have long thought. A lot of NPC's probably turn to drugs to help them get through the day, given all the crazy stuff they deal with.
-
They should have a contest to let players remake the contacts. It would save them the trouble of doing it themselves and it would be cool for players to have the opportunity to add something official to the game.
Just like I always thought it would be neat to have the in-game movie theaters (which have been playing one film for about 6 years) show random short fan-made "films". -
Quote:This gives me an idea for a story, but I am too limited in my play time (and too lazy) to go write it up in AE.I mean, the porter will fire I'm sure, but... I'm not sure the hospital would want what comes out of the tube.
I'm imagining a contact offering a mission to investigate unnatural activity in a nearby cave, telling the character that a number of heroes have gone off to explore it already, but they keep showing up in the mediporters... as red paste. -
Quote:This. This isn't even a hard question to answer. Medicom is a handwave for giving player-characters "script immunity". It's necessary because the idea of permanent death in MMOs is permanently dead. In-universe, however, it is far from a sure thing. If, for instance, someone gets his head blown off in one shot, the Medicom beacon may engage but there won't be much the hospital can do for him. The beacon itself might be damaged in combat, or as previously mentioned, the signal might be deliberately jammed or otherwise unable to get through. These things don't happen to us because of the aforementioned script immunity, but that doesn't mean the system should be inferred to operate flawlessly.
I never personally came across an in-game description of what the beacon looks like, so in my fiction I always had it as something like a pin or badge worn by the hero (perhaps a bit like ST:TNG communicators). I had a stalker character who would deliberately damage/ remove them from his victims to make sure they were dead.
Anyhow, they aren't even 100% infallible for PCs-- just ask some of the "hardcore" players. -
Ok, at the risk of being slightly negative... the animation doesn't look as good. And I do mean the animation, not the character designs or anything. It seems a bit... choppy.
That said... I will be anxiously awaiting this. -
Ok, so I haven't been paying too much attention to this (partly because it irritates me), but is this going to be an "Age of Apocalype"-type of thing that will be undone in a year?
I really can't stand some of the changes I have read about. It really blow my mind that no matter how many times fans will rise up and rage against reboots/ rewrites, they still think "this time they'll love the changes we have in store!"
Morons. -
My wife's first words upon seeing the trailer:
"They'll have to do better than that to impress me."
So... They destroyed an iconic costume for this major piece of suckage... Parts of it look too busy (gloves) to have been sewn by a teenager living at home and other parts (boots) look like different pieces of material slapped together without purpose. The eyes and the externally-visible web-shooters scream Nicholas Hammond. I almost expected a clunky utility belt.
Aunt May and Uncle Ben look too young. Peter is played by a 27 year-old, who looks ok for this first part, but when he's 35 or 36 in the sequels, will he look 17? Not likely.
Mostly what irritates me though, is knowing that my love for everything Spiderman will compell me to see this, no matter how much it bothers me. -

I actually found the Jade Spider epic, partly because I was able to run the mission solo. Made my character feel important and not just Hero #5 in a team.

Quote:That is extremely good...Speaking of Doctors, this gentleman was at the con I recently went to. I do appreciate when both the costume and the person wearing it do the character they are trying to portray justice.

I liked both for different reasons, but the first film had about 3 seconds of footage that impacted me more than anything else in either movie. At the time, I was a new father. At the end of the movie when there is the climactic battle going on, they show a scene of young Bruce's dad tucking him in at night and giving him a kiss. That moment was like a slap in the face and I just felt it. I got emotional and thought to myself: this relationship is just so...damaged. That one tiny scene made everything else terribly tragic in my mind. I never forgot it or the impact it had.

Huh. So the "Defenders will fall". Glad that the Scrappers, Tanks, Blasters, etc are safe. :P
I still don't really get what the signature story arcs are. Is it episodic content released monthly? If so, when a new episode comes out, is the previous one made unavailable (except perhaps through Oroboros)? -
I still keep waiting for them to stick with the comic theme and release a giant-sized anniversary issue. Issue 10 or 12 would have been a good time for that. Maybe 25?
-
Yeah, I was coming back to say something like this. Whether you believe in global warming or not, or any of the other environmental changes/ disasters/ doom, why not just try to cean up the earth anyway. I mean, even if you think GW is a load of bull, isn't it nice to have a cleaner earth anyway?
-
Let's skip over this argument, shall we, in favour of keeping the thread open? we all already know how it goes: both sides say the other side has faulty data, then after that plays out for a while it turns into arguments about how it's all about money. I have my beliefs, you have yours. Let's keep it at that and focus on the actual story here, which should be of interest to you, no matter which side you are on.

When I was younger, we used to read Tintin in school. A number of my friends loved the comics, but I never got into them. The trailer doesn't inspire any sudden interest in me.

Quote:Yeah, I'm gonna look at it this way, too. Otherwise, I'd just get too p.o.'ed.I've been reading comics for 20+ years and instead of getting pissed about this author forgetting what this other one did 30 years ago, or on the previous run a month ago, I just treat it as "it happened on Earth 2" and think of all the stories as separate.
As someone else mentioned, this DCnU thing is most likely on an Earth somewhere in the multi-verse and the DCU Earth we've been reading since post Crisis still exists elsewhere. -
I find the queue pretty useless. Like others have commented, I will sometimes go into queue, but after waiting about an hour or so, I give up. I find it usually works better to go to RWZ and just ask everyone in sight if they have room for me to join. This doesn't work well, mind you, just better.
In fact, my experience with trials is largely log in, wait, ask to join a group, wait, wait, wait, log out because I have run out of time. I haven't even been able to try Keyes yet because I can't get into a team. -
Well, for me, I find that railroad signs or whatever aren't too bad, as one can reasonably say that a super-strength character could grab something like this to use. I guess my issue is more with thing like the above-mentioned sword with swords in it. That just seems so... dumb. Back when I used to play Freedom Force, I loved being able to hit someone with a lightpole. Or a car. In that regard, big weapons are not an issue.
-
I remember the days when the devs didn't want to add things that looked "silly" to the game.
I like the idea behind the mechanics of the set, but the weapons look like bad anime weapons. -
I always used ear buds. One in, one out.

Interesting rumour

Well, time of day can be a problem. I am playing right now, actually. Often I have some time during the day. At night, I tend to be on after 11:00.
